What is included?

• Access to the museum and the castle garden

• Lesson preparation with background information about Roger Raveel and Alden Biesen

• Scavenger hunt “Raveel's laundry”

• Creative workshop in our atmospheric basement areas:


What can the children do?

• Scavenger Hunt: Raveel's laundry has flown off the clothesline! With the help of the teacher's instructions, the children find the laundry and stick it on their sheet.

• Interactive scenography: 2D picnic, 3D skull as a seating element, play corner and colourful columns that children can walk through.

• Workshop "The Hand of Raveel": Children create artworks inspired by Raveel, focusing on their own hand. Depending on their age, they work with still lifes, coloured paper, or paint.


For second and third grade of primary school + first grade of secondary education

Accompaniment:

guided tour by a guide from Alden Biesen (museum team) Duration: guided tour 75 minutes + workshop 60 minutes Price: €4.50 per student (minimum 15 students), supervisor free (1 per 15 students)

Guided tour

• Actively looking around and asking lots of questions is key

• Accessible explanation about Raveel: his idiosyncrasy, figuration and abstraction, love for nature, poetry and his wife

• Airy and playful elements: 2D picnic, 3D skull, prayer beads, colourful, partially mirrored columns through which children can walk

• Second grade: crossword puzzle inspired by Zulma, Raveel's wife, can be done in groups of 2–3


Workshop

• Children make a self-portrait in Raveel's style

• Working with silhouettes: copying each other or with the help of a teacher or volunteer

• Incorporate elements from the tour into your own work: painting within a painting, white square with a hand, striped figures… anything is possible!
