2016 will see the long anticipated refurbishment of the English garden surrounding the Commandery of Alden Biesen. The English garden is an essential part of the historic complex which is Alden Biesen. During the works, special attention will be given to existing nature, good accessibility and sustainable management.
The works, which will be carried out in 2016-2017, form the final phase in a long period of reconstruction and refurbishment works which Alden Biesen has been subject to. The English garden is a rare example in our country of this eighteenth-century garden architecture style and will soon be an interesting crowd-puller, again seducing the numerous Alden Biesen aficionados who visit the Commandery every year.
This project has been made possible through cooperation with ‘Agentschap Facilitair Bedrijf’, ‘Landcommanderij Alden Biesen’, ‘Agentschap voor Natuur & Bos’, ‘Agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed’ and ‘Team Van Meer’ design office.
