| Visiting Alden Biesen, with prices |
|
Alden Biesen is an impressive castle complex, beautifully restored. It is definitely worth a visit, if only to make you feel good!. Nearly all the domain outside, including the church and the English park, is free to visit. A part of the moated castle and the French garden can be visited when an entrance fee is paid.
- In this moated castle you can - in the language of your choice (Dutch, German, English or French)- visit a historical exhibition. In an easy accessible way, by using audiovisual and interactive sources, you will learn about the Teutonic Order of Knights and about the history of the Landcommanderij Alden Biesen.
- The most beautiful part of the moated castle is the authentically renovated apartment. of the Grand Commander. This is connected to the permanent exhibition. Slippers are at the disposal of visitors to cover your shoes and thus protect the expensive parquet floor.
- During the temporary exhibition in Alden Biesen some rooms which are normally closed can be visited.
- Finally there is the perfectly kept French garden, designed in 1991 to the example of Grand Commander Hendrik van Wassenaar which was laid out circa 1700.
